Get Pain Relief
I provide Deep tissue relief massage and bodywork. I am trained in the following Major Modalities:
Structural Integration
I refer to it as ‘the art of rearranging peoples bones when they’re not paying attention’. Many think it sounds painful but it’s the opposite. Being misaligned is painful. Nothing is more amazing then the profound sensation of relief from a pain you forgot you had. The myth is that our bones stack on top of each other like a pile of bricks. Our bodies are ‘tensegrity units’ like a suspension bridge, the poles and rods are held in place very strictly by the cables and wires.
Myofascial Technique
There is so much to say about this. An instructor of mine once said: “we are 200 years behind in our understanding of fascia.” You cannot do bodywork without affecting fascia. This blind-spot of science is where my profession lives. Have you ever had a ‘scrunch’ in your hose? Have you ever tried to put a sock upside down? Sometimes your pain is a ‘Fascial-scrunch’ (for lack of a more scientifically sounding term)
Sports
Staying fit has fine print. Some think sports (or certain sports) are dangerous. They absolutely are. That said, the number one injury I treat is sitting at a desk all day. You could say you hurt your ankle running. I’d rather say that running revealed a “structural deficiency”. By not challenging your body, it degenerates naturally with age. When challenged, it responds by strengthening. With proper care and education it can meet the expectations that athletes put upon their bodies.
Injury Treatment
Injury is a process. Generally massage is scientifically proven to cause injuries to heal faster and less painfully. Managing the scar tissue response can usually avoid the ‘old injury’ phenomenon. Medical massage can also help prevent re-injury in a number of ways. A deep tissue massage can treat injuries in several ways including reducing inflammation in the muscular tissue and helps prevent muscle tightness by breaking down lactic acid buildup.
